Cold Steel® Subhilt knives offer all the benefits of a custom knife, including performance, but are much more affordable. The blades are made from AUS 8A Japanese stainless steel and double-hardened using the latest techniques to ensure unmatched strength and toughness. The handle of these blades is a model of efficiency and economy. The Kray-Ex™ handle, crossguard, and finger ( sub-hilt ) are injection-molded in a single piece. While this material is inexpensive, it still provides the durability, safety, and control you'd expect from a Subhilt knife. Plus, the handle remains weather- and moisture-resistant.



The OSI is a very stable, single-edged version of the OSS (item no. CST-39LSSC). Thanks to its flat blade with a thin, extremely sharp edge, it's ideal for stabbing and will cut and slash with equal confidence. This knife has been thoroughly field-tested by Cold Steels® President Lynn C. Thompson. It has been used to skin and open dozens of game, from wild boar to buffalo, and has proven time and again to be extremely efficient!



Aus 8a stainless steel

Cold Steel® has used the same expertly hardened AUS 8A Japanese steel for nearly three decades. This steel has been thoroughly tested and proven over the years to be ideal for making work knife blades: it's hard and corrosion-resistant, with good edge retention, and is also easy to sharpen.
