This highly dosed plum water from the Black Forest distillery was stored for many months in our barn on the Elbe Marsh in Holstein. The maturation took place in a freshly emptied Laphroigh whisky cask, an American white oak barrel originally filled with bourbon whisky before beginning its long journey to Scotland.
The result is a complex whisky but relatively smoother for its brandy strength.
Fruity plums dominate, closely followed by oak barrel aromas:
Sweet vanilla and subtle tannins, rippling with a distinctive smoky note and a lasting peaty aroma. This unique specialty spirit bids farewell to the tongue and palate from the Scottish island of Islay.
