Norman Spangen helmet with nosepiece, 2mm steel medieval helmet

This wearable, combat-ready reconstruction of a Norman nasal helmet worn in the 10th/11th centuries is made from 2mm steel. The helmet consists of a conical helmet bell, overlapping band fittings or clasps (a diadem, a crown band, and an ear-to-ear band), and a nose (or nasal) plate. The clasps are riveted to the bell, and the nose piece to the diadem.

The interior of this combat helmet is blackened for improved corrosion protection and has a stitched, adjustable leather inlay. The durable, adjustable chin strap is made of dark brown leather* and features an antiqued brass buckle (*images above may vary from actual color).

This medieval spangenhelm is best suited to early or high medieval settings and is ideal for completing a proud Norman's armor. However, due to its rather simple appearance, our Norman helmet can also be used as a Viking helmet or a High Medieval Crusader helmet.

Of course, this medieval helmet is not only suitable for combat performances, reenactments, LARP, stage, or TV/film, but is also an excellent decorative addition to any helmet collector's treasure trove.

The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend regularly treating helmets (and armor in general), for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.
