In feudal Japan, the neighboring Kouga and Iga clans were bitter enemies for centuries, and their respective warring ninja families have been immortalized in Japanese literature. To commemorate these mysterious warriors, Hanwei launched Kouga and Iga ninja-to.

The blade of the Kouga Ninja-to was forged from carbon steel and differentially hardened. The edge has a Rockwell hardness of approximately 60 HRC. This ninja sword features a detachable, two-pronged tsuka with a black ray-skin covering and war wrap, decorated with Kouga mon menuki .

The blackened iron tsuba displays the Kouga family crest (called mon ) and cutouts in the form of kanji characters, which are found on repeat fuchi and kashira . Kanji and mon also decorate the blackened fittings of the saya , which ends in a point.
