Lynn C. Thompson's love of the Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) led him to develop the Luzon pocket knives in collaboration with Mike Wallace. While several balisongs in his private collection served as inspiration, the Luzon are legal pocket knives that open with a flipper. On all models, the blade is made from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel and has been hardened to a Rockwell hardness of 57-58 HRC. It has a sharp, stable point and just enough belly to be able to slice and grate equally well. The handle will make you long for the Philippines. Visually reminiscent of a bamboo cane, and to the touch, several grooves allow for a variety of comfortable grip techniques. Made from glass fiber reinforced nylon (GFN), it is weather resistant and, unlike any handle Cold Steel® has designed to date, is a great choice for everyday use.



Luzon knives are beautiful, affordable and easy to open – in short, an excellent choice. In addition, the blade lock guarantees unparalleled safety, as the knives are equipped with a double-safety side spring lock that is incredibly resistant to shocks and impacts. This means that your fingers remain protected at all times, even in the most adverse conditions.



The Luzon is available in two sizes. Both models are equipped with a lanyard loop and a convertible pocket clip made of fiberglass-reinforced nylon suitable for right- and left-handed users.



8cr13mov stainless steel

8Cr13MoV has similar properties to Aus 8A and is a proven steel ideal for making work knives. At Cold Steels® in our own tests, this high carbon stainless steel has proven to be hard and corrosion resistant. Like Aus 8A, it has good edge retention and can also be easily resharpened.
