The Cold Steel Espada is inspired by classic Spanish navaja knives, but is extremely modern in terms of design and materials.

The Espada series is the result of the collaboration between knifemaker Andrew Demko and Cold Steel President Lynn C. Thompson. This collection is the perfect fusion of Demko’s genius technical talent and Thompson’s extensive knowledge of edged weapons and tools. Despite their impressive size, these huge, highly efficient folding knives are still surprisingly light to carry. They have been expertly crafted to fit comfortably in your pocket and you will soon forget that you are carrying such a large and impressive blade with you. Thanks to Demko’s patented thumb disc, the Espada can be opened directly at the pocket hem when taken out of the pocket and is therefore ready to use in the blink of an eye.

The beautiful blade of the XL sword is made of high-quality S35 VN steel. This super steel from the USA has been deliberately chosen: the cutting edge can be sharpened extremely finely but remains sharp for a long time. The knife also features masterfully polished G-10 handle scales. The surface of the bolster and frame made of 7075 aluminum have also been polished to a high gloss.

To protect against the razor-sharp blade, each sword is equipped with Cold Steel's patented Tri-Ad® locking mechanism. This lock has proven to be surprisingly shock-resistant and solid. It is virtually impossible for the blade to close in your hand. During Cold Steel's famous hardness and load tests, the XL Sword was able to withstand not only a freely suspended weight of 272 kg (600 lbs.), but also a suspended engine block!
