The Cold Steel sword is inspired by classic Spanish pocket knives, but is extremely modern in design and materials.

The Espada series is the result of a collaboration between knifemaker Andrew Demko and Cold Steel President Lynn C. Thompson. This collection is the perfect fusion of Demko's brilliant technical talent and Thompson's extensive knowledge of blades and tools. Despite their impressive size, these highly efficient folding knives are still surprisingly light to carry. They've been expertly designed to fit comfortably in your pocket, and you'll soon forget you're carrying such a large and impressive blade. Thanks to Demko's patented thumb disk, the Espada can be opened directly at the hem of the pocket when removed from the pocket, making it ready for use in no time.

The XL sword's beautiful blade is made of high-quality S35 VN steel. This super steel from the USA was deliberately chosen: the edge can be honed extremely finely yet remains sharp for a long time. The knife also features masterfully polished G-10 handle scales. The surface of the bolster and the 7075 aluminum frame have also been polished to a high shine.

To protect against the razor-sharp blade, each sword is equipped with Cold Steel's patented Tri-Ad® locking mechanism. This lock has proven to be surprisingly shock-resistant and robust. It's virtually impossible for the blade to close in your hand. During Cold Steel's famous toughness and load tests, the XL sword was able to withstand not only a freely suspended weight of 272 kg (600 lbs.), but also a suspended engine block!
