The cold steel® espada® is inspired by the classic Spanish navaja knives, but is extremely modern in terms of design and materials. The mega knives immediately caused a sensation!



The espada® series is the result of the collaboration between knifemaker andrew demko and cold steels®. president lynn c. thompson. this collection is the perfect fusion of demko’s genius technical talent and thompson’s extensive knowledge of edged weapons and tools. despite their impressive size, these huge, highly efficient folding knives are still surprisingly light to carry. they have been expertly crafted to fit comfortably in your pocket and you will soon forget that you are carrying such a large and impressive blade with you. thanks to demko’s patented thumb disc, the espada® can be opened directly from the pocket hem when removing it from the bag and is therefore ready to use in the blink of an eye.



The blade steel of the Great Sword® was deliberately chosen: the edge can be sharpened extremely fine, but remains sharp for a long time. The knife also features masterfully polished G-10 handle scales. The surface of the bolster and frame made of 7075 aluminum have also been polished to a high gloss.



To protect against the razor-sharp blade, each Espada® features Cold Steels® patented Tri-Ad® locking mechanism. This lock has proven to be surprisingly shock-resistant and solid. It is virtually impossible for the blade to close on your hand. Through Cold Steel®’s famous hardness and stress tests, the Espada® XL can not only easily withstand a freely hanging weight of 600 lbs (272 kg), but can also easily support a hanging engine block!



2018 Model - The Espada® Large with S35VN blade replaces the discontinued CTS® XHP model (Item No. CST-62NCL).

This is an extraordinary American super steel. CPM S35VN is not only extremely strong and durable, it can also be sharpened very well to razor sharpness and maintains this edge for a long time. With its uniform microstructure, this very fine-grained powder steel offers good and consistent properties: durable, reliable, highly resistant to corrosion, tough and hard even with finely ground cutting edges. A good all-round steel for top-quality knives and tools.
