Even in the early 20th century, people carried pocket knives. Due to a sharp increase in misuse, laws were passed requiring the tip to be removed from all pocket knives to reduce their danger as weapons. Under these circumstances, some people recognized the effectiveness of a simple, sharp, flat-pointed blade and began using straight razors. At the time, the straight razor was a feared self-defense tool. Inspired by these contemporary events, the T-razor received its current design.
