Even in the early 20th century, people carried pocket knives with them. Due to the sharp increase in misuse, laws were created requiring that the tip be removed from all pocket knives to reduce their dangerousness as a weapon. Under these circumstances, some people recognized the effectiveness of a simple, sharp, flat-pointed blade and began using straight razors. At that time, the straight razor was a feared self-defense tool. Inspired by these events of the time, the T-razor received its current design.
