4-Max scout, pocket knife



Although the original 4-max (item no. 62rm or 62rn) from Cold Steels® met expectations, its manufacturing costs were quite high and production and delivery times were unfortunately too long to meet customer demand in a timely manner. The 4-max scout is easier to produce and is a much more economical alternative.



Like the original 4-Max, it features an extra-wide drop point blade with a stonewashed finish. It is made from 5mm thick Aus 10A steel, which is noted for its resilience, impact resistance and edge retention. The handle profile is unchanged, but instead of G-10, selected Griv-Ex™ was used and combined with stainless steel plates and a Griv-Ex™ spacer.



The 4-Max Scout features Andrew Demko’s innovative Tri-Ad® locking mechanism. This is how Cold Steels® can withstand extremely strenuous hardness and stress tests across the board and can even support a freely suspended weight of just over 600 lbs (270 kg) without damage.



Stainless steel from 10a

In terms of strength and toughness, AUS 10A has the same qualities as AUS 8A. However, this steel offers the extraordinary advantage of 20% more edge retention. This ability to stay sharp longer gives it significant performance advantages over other, more common types of stainless steel.
