2019 Model

The original Cold Steel® Black Talon was a revolutionary, handcrafted knife in many ways, produced only in a limited edition. It featured a modified curved* Talon blade made from Japanese San Mai® steel, a smooth titanium frame with G-10 handle scales, and a locking mechanism that was, for its time, very stable.

For a long time, Cold Steels® fans have been begging for a redesigned version of this iconic knife. Cold Steel® simply won't say no and is now offering a freshly designed version dubbed the Black Talon II .

The Black Talon II was created in collaboration between Lynn C. Thompson and knifemaker Andrew Demko. Like the original, its blade is characterized by the distinctive, sharply drawn point and pronounced belly. However, this version is crafted from satin-finished S35VN steel and features a redesigned point that's even more durable.

Even in cold or wet conditions, the G-10 handle scales guarantee a perfect grip and maximum grip. They remain gentle on clothing, for example when removing it from a bag. The contrast between the deep black handle scales and the beautifully shiny, satin-finished blade gives this beautiful and elegant folding knife even more charisma and style. 2019 model - the Black Talon II with a serrated blade made from S35VN steel replaces the discontinued model made from CTS® XHP steel (item no. CST-22BTS).

CPM S35VN steel

This is an extraordinary American super steel. CPM S35VN is not only extremely tough and durable, but it can also be sharpened very well to razor sharpness and maintains this edge for a long time. With its uniform microstructure, this very fine-grained powder steel offers good and consistent properties: durable, reliable, highly corrosion-resistant, tough, and hard even with finely ground cutting edges. A good, versatile steel for premium knives and tools.
