Acquire Germanic Fire Bat/Spark Iron
Germanic fire bat
A hand-forged flintlock bat made of carbon-containing iron, as used in the early Middle Ages.
A grave find from Bavaria served as the model for this medieval brazier.
If you strike fire-resistant steel against the sharp edge of a flint, sparks are created that jump onto the dry tinder and make it glow. Tinder sponges were formerly used as tinder. These were obtained from tree sponges and made to glow by dipping them in a saltpeter solution or rubbing them with black powder.
