Model 1850 USF officer's sword, windlass



This ornate saber features a 1065 carbon steel blade, a wire-wrapped leather handle, and a brass guard with a hand-crafted blade guard. Overall length is approximately 92.4 cm.



This beautiful sword is a faithful replica of the sabers used. The hand forged blade is made from British military steel that can bend over 20° and return to its original shape. The leather handle is wrapped with wire. This sword is appropriately decorated with a high level of decoration. The brass guard has a hand made guard and the inscription US between the branches. The blade is engraved with foliage, military trophies, US, E Pluribus Unum and Iron Proof. In the years leading up to the war, many Confederate officers, including General Robert E. Lee, carried this sword on Indian campaigns. The full tang is hammered and visible through the solid brass pommel, the scabbard is made of blued steel.
