Enjoy Archer's Mace With Sight, 1.6mm Steel.
Medieval archer's mace with folding sight, 1.6 mm steel
In the 15th century, the combat helmet known as the schaller replaced the breathing hood and became one of the most widely used helmets throughout Europe by mid-16th century. This type of helmet came in a wide variety of shapes and variants—from the simplest to the most elaborate, open or visored, with more or less pronounced neck protection, and so on—and was especially popular in Italy ( celata ), Germany, France ( salade ), and England ( sallet ). At the dawn of the Renaissance, it eventually evolved into the burgonet (balaclava) of the 16th century.
The late medieval schaller offered here was made of 1.6 mm (16-gauge) steel. The helmet has a movable visor decorated with a stylized brass cross and engraved leaf motifs. The folding visor is equipped with a rectangular visor measuring approximately 1.5 cm.
The interior is blackened and features an adjustable, riveted leather insert. The chin strap, made of 2 mm thick black leather, is fitted with a steel buckle.
