Heavy blows could damage and shatter the armor, seriously impairing freedom of movement and the ability to defend oneself. This hammer has a large point at the end and small points on the sides. The rear point is thick and capable of piercing armor. The head is attached to the wooden handle with springs from the shaft, which is also riveted for a secure grip.
