The model for this replica is a curious 16th century battle hammer, probably from Germany. The hammer head is shaped like a fist holding a dagger. The fist is made of brass, the dagger is made of steel. A brass ring is attached to the end of the wooden hammer shaft.

Weapons of this type are quite rare and were probably not combat tools, but ceremonial objects.
