Luzerner's hammer
The lucerne hammer, also known as the hawk's pick, is a pole weapon that was used between the 14th and 16th centuries. It was used. It is a special form of war hammer that combines three weapons: a thrusting point (the so-called spike), a hammer side with sharp or pointed edges, and a curved point (the so-called pick). The handle length was at least 1.50 m. The lucerne hammer was also known as a homing axe. It was primarily used by simpler foot soldiers and specifically against knights protected in plate armor.
Our replica is based on an original find from the 16th century. It's a fairly simple construction with a perforated spike, a slotted shaft holder, and a split hammer side. For ease of shipping, the lucerne hammer is delivered without a shaft. We recommend ash wood.
The original has a total length of approximately 195 cm.
Details:
- Material: steel, hand forged
- Total length without axle: 63.5 cm
- Weight: approx. 1170 g
