Cloak of the Hospitallers
The Knights of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem were called Hospitallers (Latin name: Ordo Hospitalis Sancti Johannis Ierosolimitani or Order of the Knights of Saint John of the Hospital of Jerusalem ). This order of knights was founded after the conquest of Jerusalem by the army of the First Crusade in 1099. The knights of this order were also known as Hospitallers. In 1306, after the fall of the Crusader States, the Order moved first to Rhodes and finally to Malta in 1530. This is why this order is now called the Order of Malters.
Many crusaders wore cloaks over their armour, often in combination with the matching tunic. What should of course be highlighted is the cross, which showed the knight that he was fighting for the liberation of Jerusalem.
These ulfberth cloaks have a very loose cut. No material has been spared and the entire cloak has an inner lining. The cut and material are very authentically made based on historical models. It is one size fits most or can easily be shortened.
The brooch shown is not included in the delivery.
