Discover Main Gauche, a Left-Handed Fencing Dagger
Swept-handle fencing dagger for rapier
Fencing daggers, or left-handed daggers, were often used alongside the rapier. On the one hand, daggers allow for better defense against attacking swords, but at the same time, they also offer the possibility of a quick counterattack. The fencing schools that proliferated in Europe taught fencing with two corresponding weapons. The style and design of the left hand was often adapted from the rapier, adopting its characteristics to increase effectiveness. The handle is made of hardwood.
The matching swept-hilt rapier (item number hn-sh1024) is also available.
