Roman Praetorian Guard Pornorous Helmet, Brass

The precursors of the Roman Praetorian Guard (abbreviated Praetorian ) were already introduced in the Republican period. Subsequently, the Roman emperors increased and expanded the troops. The Praetorians served as guards and bodyguards of the emperors and were often used at home to ensure their rule.

Unfortunately, no original helmets have been discovered so far. This version of the helmet is based on the numerous, well-preserved images on Roman stone reliefs and is authentically inspired by them.

Made of brass plate with richly decorated ornamentation, this helmet is a true masterpiece today as it was then. It has two brass cheek pieces and a red horsehair shield. The helmet also has an adjustable leather entry.
