The barong is widespread throughout Southeast Asia. It is often used as an agricultural tool, but is also known for its effectiveness as a fighting tool.

Many Cold Steel employees, including company president Lynn C. Thompson, practice Filipino martial arts ( FMA ) and are big fans of the barong knife, which is not only a very popular blade among FMA martial artists but also an excellent bushcraft tool. Cold Steel is therefore proud to introduce its new interpretation of the classic barong, which complements its range of modern tactical machetes.

The typical downward-curved shape of the polypropylene handle allows for a firm grip and helps resist centrifugal forces that arise from powerful blows.

The beautifully curved, leaf-shaped blade made of 1055 carbon steel is coated with a matte black, baked-enamel rust protection.

For added convenience of carrying and use, each barong machete comes with a cor-ex™ sheath.
