Enjoy Lorica Segmentata, Newstead Type
Lorica segmentata, newstead type
Very authentic reconstruction of a Roman railway truss, called
Lorica segmentata, < /i> of the newstead type.
The Lorica segmentata was in use in the Roman army for at least 200 years. The earliest finds come from Kalkriese, Germany, and date back to 9 AD.
The Newstead type is named after the village of the same name in southern Scotland. The site was the site of the ancient Roman camp Trimontium , in the remains of which we found the model for our reconstruction.
The original of this plate armour is dated between 130 and 280 AD. Classified. The Newstead type is the last rail armour variant of the Roman army, which later equipped its legionaries with lorica hamata chainmail. Unlike the earlier Corbridge and Kalkriese variants, the Newstead armour is not adjustable. But fixed in size. The four armour segments are assembled by carefully crafted hooks and snap connections. Our replica fits a wearer with a chest circumference of up to approx. 112 cm. Of course, the final circumference should always be measured over the entire (upholstered) clothing.
Details:
- Material: 1.3mm steel; brass inserts
- Size: for chest circumference up to max. 112 cm
- Weight: approx. 9.2 kg
