Content:
Knights: who doesn't think of noble heroes in shining armor and the charming maidens who also look like them? Happy to succumb to the armored fighter's love song? Mystical and fascinating are the legends of that distant time when a free man's arm had to be strong enough to wield a sword victoriously!
Wild revels, martial arts, but also crafts, courtly lifestyles, and music shape our idea of the era often referred to as the Dark Ages. Anyone who has ever sipped a fine wine in the vaults of an ancient, impregnable fortress, by the dancing light of torches, while listening to the sounds of long-forgotten harp melodies, or who has ever enjoyed a dark beer with cooked delicacies from a bending table in such a place, knows how quickly you forget everything around you and begin a journey through time to an era that is anything but Dark Ages.
This cookbook provides inspiration and instructions for a culinary journey back to the resplendent homes and magnificent tables of the age of chivalry, but also for the knight-errant or merchant spending the night in a military camp or a poor inn before needing to be. To enjoy a good meal, it offers a variety of tips and variations on historical recipes, prepared in a traditional way or with modern means. So, if you don't just want to dress in medieval style and fight like that, but also want to eat knightly style or want to make your own mead and cheese the traditional way, you'll love this book and shouldn't miss it.
The author:
Heiko Schwartz,
Born in 1975, he wanted to become a Robin Hood at the age of 6. A sports fencer for 20 years, he has been working with medieval fighting techniques, especially sword fencing, for several years. The sport, combined with his professional aspirations at the time, led him to a strong interest in the subject of the Middle Ages. As a hunter seeking fresh meat and natural ingredients, it made sense to explore the Middle Ages while enjoying food and drink.
