The word leatherneck (= ledernacken ) has been synonymous with the renowned US Marines since 1776, when the US Congress passed a resolution requiring all Marines to wear a tall, thick leather collar (popularly known at the time as a stock ). This collar was intended to serve two purposes: on the one hand, it was to protect the neck from sabre and sword blows, and on the other, it forced the soldier to always keep his head upright to demonstrate the military posture that was established at the time.



Cold Steel® This series of rugged, combat-ready fixed knives features two different iconic blade types. Both are very popular with the U.S. military:

- The leatherneck®-sf (= semper-fidelis , Latin for always faithful ) has a beautiful hand-drawn clip point blade.

- The leatherneck®-tanto is equipped with its own American tanto blade from Cold Steels®, which has a strong, reinforced tip and is therefore even more stable.



Both blades are forged from D2 tool steel. D2 is a strong and durable air-hardening tool steel with high resistance to rust. This steel has been used for decades by both industrial knife makers and small knife makers and hobby knife makers to produce robust knives, for example for hunting and other outdoor activities.



The finishing touches are given to the leathernecks® blades thanks to a matte black powder coating.



To prevent your fingers from slipping forward and coming into contact with the sharp edge, leathernecks® are equipped with first-class hand protection. The solid steel guard is slightly curved forward and offers excellent protection. During daily work, interference caused by the protective element is minimal.



The particularly wide, continuous tang is supported by a handle made of fully covered Kray-Ex™. Its ergonomic, oval cross-section and unique finger groove guarantee an unbeatable grip. The large handle cap is made of machined steel (not a cheap cast or plastic part like many other models) and can therefore also be used as a hammer if required.



For safe and comfortable carry in all situations, each knife comes with a rugged and versatile military-style secure-ex® sheath, including an ambidextrous and fully removable belt loop.
