Bob Koga began his career as a martial artist at a young age, first with judo at the age of 12 and then with wrestling in high school. When he joined the US Air Force after graduating from high school and was assigned to Japan, he resumed his judo training and also trained in jiu jitsu, jo-do, and aikido. After completing his service with the US Air Force, Bob moved to Los Angeles and became a police officer with the LAPD. He served there with honor and great dedication for 25 years. During his career with the LAPD, he was widely known as a strong supporter of the classic, straight baton rather than the so-called PR24® baton, the American equivalent of the T-handled baton known in Germany as the Tonfa (also called the MES – multi-purpose baton).
