Koi carp are said to swim through rivers and waterfalls with a bravery that rivals that of the samurai. It is also said that if the koi is caught, it will stand still next to the knife and bravely face death, like a samurai facing a deadly sword.

Paul Chen's Koi Wakizashi features a hand-forged T10 carbon steel blade, which has been differentially hardened using a traditional clay coating process.
