Kobun®, Tanto Style Boot Knife



Cold Steels® Kobun® is a lightweight, tanto-style boot knife. Its name comes from the vocabulary of Japanese underground organizations, where Kobun is sometimes used as a rank designation roughly equivalent to the word soldier (a Kobun follows the orders of his soldier (i>oyabun – the head of his clan – from). Kobun® is therefore an appropriate name for a knife that was, in fact, designed to be a good soldier.



This knife has proven incredibly popular with the US military, who not only value its light weight and subtle profile, but also its durability and cutting edge.



The Kobun® features Cold Steels® famous American Tanto blade with a reinforced tip. The back of the blade is uniformly strong almost to the tip, making the tip particularly resistant to bending and breaking. Despite its narrow profile, the deeply grooved Kray-Ex® handle provides maximum grip. Its shape prevents the knife from twisting or slipping in your hand.



A secure-ex® holster with heavy duty belt clip/case is included.



8a stainless steel

Cold Steel® has been using the same expertly hardened Japanese Aus 8A steel for nearly three decades. This steel has been extremely tested and has proven over the years to be ideal for making blades for work knives – it is hard and corrosion resistant, with good edge retention and is also easy to sharpen.
