Kobun®, tanto style boot knife

Cold Steels® Kobun® is a lightweight tanto-style boot knife. Its name comes from the vocabulary of Japanese clandestine organizations, where kobun is sometimes used as a rank designation roughly equivalent to the word for soldier (a kobun follows the orders of his soldier ). Kobun® is therefore an appropriate name for a knife that was, in fact, designed to be a good soldier.

This knife has proven incredibly popular with the US military, who value not only its light weight and subtle profile, but also its durability and cutting edge.

The Kobun® features Cold Steels® famous American tanto blade with a reinforced tip. The back of the blade is uniformly strong almost to the tip, making it particularly resistant to bending and breaking. Despite its narrow profile, the deeply grooved Kray-Ex® handle provides maximum grip. Its shape prevents the knife from twisting or slipping in your hand.

A secure-ex® case with heavy-duty belt clip/holster is included.

Cold Steel® has used the same expertly hardened AUS 8A Japanese steel for nearly three decades. This steel has been thoroughly tested and proven over the years to be ideal for making work knife blades: it's hard and corrosion-resistant, with good edge retention, and is also easy to sharpen.
