When you hold a Longquan Master Hammer-Forged Shikoto Sword, you are essentially holding the same weapon that was wielded by a warrior over 2,500 years ago. Bronze Age forging techniques are used to create the 1060 carbon steel blade. Each piece is open die forged and hardened in the clay casing to create a visible hardness line (hamon). Differential tempering gives this magnificent sword a harder edge and smoother spine, a hallmark of high quality weapons. The tsuba and handle rest are made of solid brass. The wooden handle, sheathed with genuine tea-colored stingray skin, has a traditional cord wrap.



For storage, a polished and black lacquered wooden sheath with a cord (sageo) is included. The katana comes with a certificate of authenticity that includes technical details of the forging process. Each certificate is signed by the master swordsman who made the blade.
