Today, only interpretations of the ancient originals from feudal Japan can be found, which were designed for smaller fighters (rarely taller than 1.70 m). As ingenious as they may be, these Japanese swords are not ideal for the modern warrior, who is significantly larger and stronger than his historical counterpart!

To correct this imbalance, Cold Steel® launched the Dragonfly Series, a collection of Japanese swords with thicker, wider, and heavier blades. The handles of these beautiful swords feature a black ray skin (samé) inlay and striking aquamarine silk cord. The black metal guard plate and end cap are decorated with a dragonfly motif. The highly curved, hand-polished 1060 carbon steel blades terminate in a long, iris-leaf-shaped point for maximum cutting performance.

Two protective cases are included with each sword: a blue cotton carrying bag and a richly decorated decorative storage bag made of the finest and toughest silk brocade.
