Golden Lion Katana

The Golden Lion Katana is Cold Steels® interpretation of the sword that samurai of old carried in everyday life to defend themselves or protect their master, family, and home. It's not only significantly lighter and more agile than other Cold Steel® katanas, but also offers greater comfort when worn in an obi throughout the day.

The menuki bears the symbol of the Japanese shisa (lion dog), which in its role as guardian or protector is a fitting motif for this beautiful and lightweight sword.

The Damascus steel blade of the Gold Lion Katana has been expertly hand-honed and polished to a high shine. It features a hamaguri edge, an iori mune (a pointed A-shaped blade spine), and a wavy hardness line (hamon), created by hardening in a layer of clay. The tsuba, fuchi, and kashira are made of black iron and decorated with gleaming 24-karat gold leaf details. The handle, covered in white ray skin, is wrapped with black silk cord.
