- The sword blades are hand-forged from carbon steel and traditionally hardened.
- The sharp blades have been provided with a bo-hi (channel) to reduce weight.
- The handles (tsuka) are made of wood, covered with real fish skin (seed).
- The handle wrap (tsuka-ito) is traditionally made of black cotton.
- Two menukis are inserted into the handle.
- The sword's tangs are especially long and are attached to the handle with two bamboo pegs (mekugi).
- The scabbards (saya) are made of wood.
- The blade clamps (habaki) are made of brass.
- Made according to museum templates.
John Lee Dragon Katana
The dragon still plays an important role in Japan today, especially during New Year celebrations. Unlike Western mysticism, the dragon is a mythical animal that brings luck in Japan. The sword has a fine line of harmony. The tsuba of this remarkable sword consists of a dragon encircling the blade.
