The Bamboo Mat Katana features a blade made from Hanwei's own high-alloy HWS-1S steel , which combines outstanding performance with excellent o-choji ( hamon ) hardness.

This steel is manufactured in Hanwei's new high-tech forging, resulting in a state-of-the-art blade with excellent edge retention and durability.

The blackened iron tsuba of this samurai sword has a bamboo mat-like surface and is bordered with bamboo cane motifs and decorated with gold-tipped bamboo leaves. The fuchi and kashira are in the same style, and the gold-colored menuki depict a pair of sparrows.

The saya has a high gloss finish and horn fittings.
