Kalabra is a kind of mystical Nordic folk wok in jazz-rock garb, heavily spiced with a bit of funk and pop, and an interesting mix of bouzouki,
Jew's harp, voice, flute, bass, percussion, saxophone, harmonica and nyckelharpa.
To put it in all seriousness, one could also say: rhythmic fusion of jazz and folk.
Etc. . a. based on polskas and waltzes sprinkled with improvisations.
Plus, Ulrika Boden's clear, airy voice. The rhythmic side of this music isn't jazzy at all; it doesn't oscillate, but instead swirls in the archaic three-part rhythm. polska, a Swedish folk dance.
