Kaeru (frog) wakizashi
The blade of the Hanwei kaeru (German frog) wakizashi is hand forged from powdered steel, folded, and has a kissaki .
The saya is painted deep black. High-quality ray skin ( same ) was used for the tsuka , and the tsuka-ito is made of dark blue Japanese cotton.
The tsuba is made of blackened iron and decorated with gold and silver details. The frog on a water lily motif is complemented by the elegantly woven dark blue and greenish-gray sageo silk. The fuchi and kashira , both in black, have brass details, and the kojiri , koiguchi , and kurikata are made of polished buffalo horn. The habaki was cast from a single piece of brass.
