Game of thrones - blackfire ( blackfyre ) book edition

Officially licensed product from the fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin

Aegon the Conqueror took it with him when he left Dragonstone and set out for the Seven Kingdoms. Blackfire was an ancestral sword of his house that would become the symbol of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros.

Aegon I wore it throughout his reign and used it in many battles. After his death it passed to his heir and successor Aenys.

However, Aenys gave it to his younger brother Maegor because he was the better warrior and thus better suited to the sword. Many saw this as a mistake that legitimized Maegor's later seizure of the throne.

The sword was used and carried by the Targaryen kings for generations in both peace and war. Until 182 AC, when Aegon IV gave Blackfyre to his illegitimate son, Daemon, instead of his more educated, legitimate heir. Daemon took the name Blackfyre, in honor of his father's sword, and founded House Blackfyre.

The succession plan was further diluted when Aegon IV legitimized Daemon Blackfyre on his deathbed. The end result was the Blackfyre Rebellion in 196 AC.

The rebellion was unsuccessful and Daemon was killed, shot by arrows from archers under the command of Lord Brynden Strom, another of Aegon IV's bastards who remained loyal to the crown.

Daemon Blackfyre's half-brother, Aegor Bittersteel Strom, a bastard who had joined the rebels, took Blackfyre and fled with him across the Narrow Sea to the Free Cities, where the sword was lost to history.
