Delight yourself with John Lee 47 Ronin Katana

John Lee 47 Ronin Katana

At the beginning of the 18th century, the shogun commissioned the two princes Kamei Korechika and Asano Naganori to prepare a reception ceremony for the emperor's emissary. The two reported to the corrupt master of ceremonies Kira Kozuke, who was supposed to teach them about court etiquette. However, he expected generous gifts and offerings in return. Unlike Kamei, Asano refused, for which he was especially misinformed, insulted, and provoked by the master of ceremonies. After some patience, Asano finally lost his temper and attacked Kira with his knife. Although he only lightly wounded him, this offense was punishable by death, and Asano committed seppuku , ritual suicide.

Among Asano's followers were 47 samurai who, through death, became ronin (masterless samurai). Although they knew that blood vengeance would mean their own deaths, they devised a plan to assassinate the master of ceremonies. After months of preparation, they finally managed to break into Kira's estate, execute him, and then cut off his head. After placing the head in Asano's grave, the ronin surrendered. Since they had avenged their master and acted according to the samurai code of honor, the shogun permitted suicide by seppuku , which meant they were not executed like the usual criminals. This event is considered an outstanding example of the samurai's unconditional loyalty and fidelity to their master.

The John Lee 47 Ronin Katana is meant to reflect the strength and loyalty of masterless samurai. This katana features a hand-forged, razor-sharp blade made of 9260 spring steel in the shobu-zukuri style with a fuller blade (bo -hi ). The handle wrap ( tsuka-ito ) is made of black leather. The saya is made of black lacquered wood and has a black and white sageo made of cotton.
