Delight yourself with John Lee 47 Ronin Katana
John lee 47 ronin katana
In the early 18th century, the two princes Kamei Korechika and Asano Naganori were commissioned by the shogun to prepare a reception ceremony for the emperor's emissary. The two were dependent on the corrupt master of ceremonies Kira Kozuke, who was supposed to teach them about court etiquette. However, he expected generous gifts and offerings in return. Unlike Kamei, Asano refused, and was thus especially misinformed, insulted, and provoked by the master of ceremonies. After some patience, Asano finally lost his temper and attacked Kira with his knife. Although he only slightly injured him, this offense was punishable by death, and Asano committed seppuku , ritual suicide.
Among Asano’s followers were 47 samurai who, through death, became ronin (samurai without a master). Although they knew that blood revenge would mean their own death, they devised a plan to assassinate the master of ceremonies. After months of preparation, they finally managed to break into Kira’s estate, execute him, and then cut off his head. After laying the head on Asano’s grave, the ronin surrendered. Since they had avenged their master and acted according to the samurai code of honor, the shogun permitted suicide by seppuku , which meant that they were not executed like usual criminals. This event is considered a prime example of the samurai’s unconditional loyalty and faithfulness to their master.
