Late Roman Spangenhelm 'burgh castle'
Solid replica of a late Roman helmet that was found at the ancient Roman castle Gariannonum , now Burgh Castle Norfolk, England was found in 1960. It is a helmet of the Roman infantry, who fought against the Saxon invaders in this area in the 3rd century.
A very typical helmet from this transitional period between Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages. The helmet consists of four segments, connected by a clasp and a comb. It has movable cheek and neck flaps lined with leather on the inside and around the rim, and has a short, riveted nose. Like the original, it is handmade and riveted with brass studs.
The helmet has a comfortable leather inlay. The cheek flaps can be secured with a leather strap.
