Late Roman Spangenhelm 'burgh castle'
Solid replica of a late Roman helmet that was found in the ancient Roman castle Gariannonum , today Burgh Norfolk Castle , England was found in 1960. It is a helmet of the Roman infantry, who fought against the Saxon invaders in this area in the 3rd century.
A very typical helmet from this transitional period between late antiquity and the early middle ages. The helmet consists of four segments, which are connected to each other by a clasp and a comb. It has movable cheek and neck flaps lined with leather on the inside and around the edge and has a short riveted nose. Like its original, hand-made and riveted with brass rivets.
The helmet has a comfortable leather inlay. The cheek flaps can be fastened using a leather strap.
