Gift Dogs' Gugel, Approx. 1390, 2mm Steel
Dogs' Gugel, approx. 1390, 2 mm steel
- Suitable for combat use -
The hundsgugel is a variation on the late medieval saucer. Until around 1420, the hundsgugel was the preferred helmet shape among the most noble knights and warriors. The distinctive visor design helped earn this helmet its name, hundsgugel (=dog hood/dog head), and its widespread use throughout Central Europe.
Our reproduction is based on a helmet manufactured in Milan around 1390 AD. This helmet is part of the Churburg armor in Tyrol. The helmet is handcrafted from 2 mm thick steel plate, riveted and welded, and its robustness guarantees excellent protection during exhibition combat.
The helmet has a flip-up visor that's completely removable using pins attached to chains. The helmet also has a comfortable padded fabric inlay.
The brass rivets on the sides are used to attach a chain carrier to the chest and shoulders. We have these chain carriers in our range in different types of braiding, which can be found in the chain sprockets category.
This helmet model is available in sizes S, M, and L.
