Hsu Quandao by Paul Chen
The quandao (also known as guandao , guan dao , or kwan tao ) is named after its creator, the great general Guan Yu, and was originally a powerful war weapon weighing over 45 kg. However, over time, this polearm evolved into a martial arts weapon weighing significantly less (the hsu quandao presented here by hanwei weighs approximately 2.5 kg).
The carbon steel blade has a distal taper for improved balance and is decorated with etched dragon motifs. A traditional tassel is attached to the blade hook. The wooden shaft ends in a quatrefoil-shaped point. The guard is antiqued. Paul Chen's quandao is lightweight and perfectly balanced, making it ideal for any martial artist looking to train with such an impressive weapon.
A matching display stand for this quandao is also available separately (item no. OH2290). The stand is made of solid oak and beautifully displays the weapon upright.
