Raider's Shoulders

Description

You growl an order to the scouts, and they scurry off into the undergrowth, spears drawn. Your hunting party searches the forest, not for food, but for the rush and excitement of finding new elven prey.

Soon the scouts return with news of an elven encampment ahead, and your fellow orcs share eager, toothy grins. Dressed in your raider armor, you set off into the night toward unsuspecting prey.

DETAILS

The Epic Armoury Raider Shoulders are a worn, tough piece of armor that protects the front of your shoulders. It consists of a pauldron and three overlapping metal pieces. The overlapping pieces are held together with two parallel leather straps that keep the joints flexible yet cohesive. The pauldrons have a leather strap that can be attached to a breastplate and another leather strap at the bottom of the armor that is used to wrap around the wearer's arm. When these two leather straps are fastened, the Raider's shoulders offer a high degree of movement and agility. This riveted piece of steel has been treated with Epic Armoury's Epic Dark Metal and a mottled brown coating to give the armor a rusted, well-worn finish.

The Raider armor is adorned to resemble the flesh of a beast. Crafted from 1mm thick galvanized mild steel with premium leather straps and fittings, this piece of armor is designed to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with the usual care of leather and metal armor.

Maintenance

Epic Armory Dark products are specially treated to resist rust, but should still be treated with oil and kept in a dry place. All of our metal armor contains leather parts that require regular maintenance using leather care products to prevent the leather from drying out.

Cleaning

If your armor gets wet, it is important to dry it completely as soon as possible.

After handling, use, or after six months of storage or display, all metal should be wiped clean with a clean cloth. Lightly oil the cleaned surface with a quality machine or mineral oil. Alternatively, you can apply a coat of wax to the entire surface of the exposed metal. Let the wax dry for a couple of hours, then lightly buff it with a soft cloth.

Prevention and elimination of rust

Store your armor in a dry place and check it every two months for signs of rust. If you find any, remove it by gently rubbing the affected area with a mildly abrasive pad moistened with paste wax, oil, or water-displacing fluid.

Leather belts and accessories

Clean by removing dirt with a stiff brush, then gently scrub with leather soap and a clean, damp cloth until the leather appears clean. Remove the soap with a separate damp cloth to clean any soap residue, and then use a dry cloth to wipe away any remaining water from the leather.

You should always condition leather after cleaning it, as the soap will have removed some of its natural oils. Treat the leather with mink oil, olive oil, or beeswax using a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of oil or wax into the leather in circles. Allow the leather to soak in the oil before wiping it with a final clean cloth to remove excess residue.
