Our “Kremper No. 1” – Holterdiepolter is a very special wine. This fine caraway brandy does not go down the throat quickly into the stomach to warm it.



No, this treasure is first stored in an oak barrel for a few months. It matures quietly in the cold, damp cellar of the marshes. But every thirty days, the light of the earth's satellite hits it and increases its strength. Then it rises through the deep barrel to Krempe, to the market square.



The mayor is already there, pious, happy and always cheerful!

He rolls the barrel up and down the market, full of urgency.

Above the head and the stone, there is a rumble, the sky darkens, what torture.

The moon shines brightly and powerfully draws out the fine notes of caraway juice,

And he mixes them with oak wood, the caraway distiller's greatest pride.

In storms, snow and extreme heat, the First Selectman rolls and sweats.

He rumbles until he can't anymore, until he gets tired, the first man.

Exhausted, the barrel also retreats, seeking its fate in the damp basement.

Until one day the hour strikes and the burner opens the barrel.
