The blades of Red Dragon Hema synthetic knives are made from their own special plastic blend to create a strong, flexible fighting blade. The connection between the blade and the tang (traditionally a weak point) is reinforced by a high-strength steel rod that runs the entire length of the handle. This also eliminates the flex in the handle that traditionally occurs with plastic training swords. The edges are smooth to prevent friction burns, but can be scuffed with sandpaper to improve grip.
