Forged Tomahawks

High-quality Cold Steel® tomahawks are precision forged from 1055 carbon steel. When producing impact tools, especially those with a cutting edge, drop forging offers many distinct advantages. Using multiple dies (hollow molds/dies) connected to massive forging hammers, the steel is formed step by step into a completely homogeneous mass and impact-pressed to achieve uniform grain flow and minimize defect formation. All Cold Steel® tomahawks are also differentially hardened: the cutting edge and striking surface of the hammer are fully hardened for razor sharpness, while the rest of the head remains softer to absorb shock and impact.

Weeping Heart Hawk

For over 10 years, Cold Steels® President Lynn C. Thompson has regularly trained with a Weeping Heart aluminum hatchet. She loves this axe, named after the weeping heart-shaped cut, so much that Cold Steel® decided to create a forged steel version. The extra-long, spiked head and the typical heart-shaped cut have deadly chopping and thrusting power. Plus, its exceptional length offers significant additional advantages when it comes to knocking down, parrying, blocking, trapping, or blocking an opponent's weapon.

Carbon steel 1055

The carbon content and relatively low levels of other materials in this steel make it a very stable material, free from the brittleness inherent in most high-carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that require high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes, and swords.
