Forged Tomahawks

Cold Steel® high-quality tomahawks are precision-forged from 1055 carbon steel. When producing impact tools, especially those equipped with a cutting edge, drop forging offers many distinct advantages. Using multiple dies (hollow molds/die) connected to massive forging hammers, the steel is shaped step by step into a completely homogeneous mass and pressed by impact to achieve uniform grain flow and minimize defect formation. All Cold Steel® tomahawks have also been differentially hardened: the cutting edge and striking surface of the hammer are fully hardened for sharpness, while the rest of the head is kept softer to absorb shock and impact.

Weeping Heart Hawk

For over 10 years, Cold Steels® President Lynn C. Thompson has regularly trained with a Weeping Heart Aluminum Battle Axe. She loves this axe, named after the Weeping Heart-shaped cutout, so much that Cold Steel® decided to create a forged steel version. The particularly long spiked head with the typical heart-shaped cutout has deadly cutting and thrusting power. Plus, its exceptional length offers great additional advantages when it comes to taking down, parrying, blocking, trapping or locking up your opponent’s weapon.



1055 carbon steel

The carbon content and relatively low levels of other materials in this steel make it a very stable material, free of the brittleness inherent in most high carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that need to have a high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes and swords.
