Whether used to fell trees, build ships, houses and furniture, or for use in battle, the axe was an essential and versatile tool for the Vikings. The shape and size of axe heads depended on the intended use. But there were also artistically decorated axes that served as a status symbol for their bearer and were often included as grave goods. Today, Viking axes are popular among collectors and are often used in movies, television series and video games to convey the image of the fierce and fearless Vikings.



The shape of the head of the Viking axe offered here corresponds to the Petersen type F. The blade of this axe is made of carbon steel and is hand forged. The handle of the axe is made of robust ash wood.



This early medieval axe is primarily intended as a collector's item or decorative object. It is also ideal as an accessory, for example to complete your costume, and will make your transformation into a proud warrior simply perfect.

Due to its construction and the thickness of the material, this axe can also be modified: with a little manual skill, the axe blade can be sharpened. Again, the edges and tips can be rounded and the cutting edge can be blunted. Depending on the intended use, the axe can be transformed into a functional work axe or into a weapon suitable for show combat.
