This type of double-edged axe was originally used by lumberjacks who benefited from having a sharp axe ready at all times. One side was used for rough work and the other for fine work. Today, the axe is primarily used as a throwing axe in amateur competitions.

It is named after the blacksmith Wetterhall, who worked longer than anyone else in Hults Bruk. Like all Hultafors axes, the Wetterhall throwing axe is hand-forged and made from high-quality Swedish steel.
