Mammen axe
Very beautiful and faithful to the original replica of the famous 10th century Mammen axe .
The original was found in a prince's grave near Mammen in Jutland, Denmark, and is now in the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen. The axe blade is richly decorated with silver inlays in the Mammen style (Younger Jelling style).
It is assumed that it was a cult or ceremonial weapon.
The tomb of the so-called Mammenfundet (Danish Mammenfundet) dates back to approximately 970 AD, that is, to the reign of Harald Bluetooth.
