While the Cold Steel® Trail Boss Axe is compact enough to easily carry by hand or strap to your gear all day, it's also tough enough for tasks that would make any hatchet or axe beg for mercy. Equipped with a European-style head with a 4-inch blade and an edge approximately 4.5 inches long, it can do a lot of damage with every blow. It also features a very stable and durable handle made of straight-grain American hickory.

This axe was subjected to intensive practical testing in the Australian outback. It was used to chop firewood, clear paths and trails, build hunting blinds, and even fell a majestic tree.

Carbon steel 1055

The carbon content and relatively low levels of other materials in this steel make it a very stable material, free from the brittleness inherent in most high-carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that require high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes, and swords.
