While the Cold Steel® Trail Boss Axe is compact enough to easily carry in your hand or strap to your luggage all day, it’s also strong enough for tasks that would make any axe or hatchet beg for mercy. Equipped with a European-style head with an axe blade approximately 4 inches long and a cutting edge approximately 4.5 inches long, it can take out a lot of damage with every swing. Plus it features a very stable and durable handle made from straight-grained American hickory wood.



This axe was put through its paces in the Australian outback. It was used to chop firewood, clear paths and trails, build game hides and even fell a majestic tree.



1055 carbon steel

The carbon content and relatively low levels of other materials in this steel make it a very stable material, free of the brittleness inherent in most high carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that need to have a high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes and swords.
