The Axe Gang® Hatchet, Cold Steel®’s own version of this iconic sword, is no mere movie prop! It features a drop-forged, differentially hardened carbon steel head with a hard edge that can be honed to a razor sharp edge and a softer body to absorb shock and impact. It also has a handle made of hand-picked, straight-grain American walnut wood. It’s decorated with the Axe Gang® kanji characters.

Carbon steel 1055

The carbon content and relatively low levels of other materials in this steel make it a very stable material, free from the brittleness inherent in most high-carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that require high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes, and swords.
