The Axe Gang® Hatchet, Cold Steel®’s own version of this iconic sword, is no mere movie prop! It features a drop-forged, differentially hardened carbon steel head with a hard cutting edge that can be honed to razor-sharp sharpness and a softer body to absorb shock and impact. It also has a handle made from hand-picked, straight-grained American walnut wood. It’s decorated with the Axe Gang® kanji characters.

1055 carbon steel

The carbon content and relatively low levels of other materials in this steel make it a very stable material, free of the brittleness inherent in most high carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that need to have a high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes and swords.
