Acquire Viking Bearded Axe from Gotland
Viking bearded axe from Gotland
The bearded axe or skeggøx (from the Old Norse words skegg for beard and øx for axe) was popular between the 6th and late 19th centuries. The Viking Age saw its popularity as both a tool and a weapon. Compared to the sword, it was not only simpler but also much cheaper to produce, making it the most important weapon for common people in early medieval Scandinavia.
The high-quality Viking axe we offer here was made based on an archaeological find from the Swedish island of Gotland. The axe blade is hand-forged from carbon steel and mounted on a wooden shaft.
