Gugel with long tip
This gugel is made of light cotton fabric and has a long tip (also called liripipe). Due to the long tip, it can be attributed to the High and Late Middle Ages. This gugel can also be worn as a companion in various ways.
The general feature of the gugel is its hood, which also covers the shoulders. The hood was first worn by the Vikings. In the early Middle Ages, it was part of the everyday clothing of farmers, craftsmen and travellers. From the 14th century onwards, the hood became a fashion accessory: the cut became narrower, the corners were lengthened and the hem was often decorated. From the 16th century onwards, it was rarely used.

As authentic as possible, as modern as necessary!
This medieval gugel is part of the Battle-Merchant collection for historical and medieval clothing – clothing for men, women and children. From the first drawing to the last stitch, this garment was planned, designed and made with real craftsmanship and with particular attention to detail. When it comes to our clothing, we base it more or less exactly on historical models, burial finds or museum pieces, if they exist. We keep changes to a minimum, for example to adapt to current sizes and working methods. See for yourself!
