Acquire Praetorian Greaves, Brass

Greaves of the Praetorian Guard made of embossed brass, a pair

The Praetorian Guard was originally founded around the 3rd century BC. Founded in the 1st century BC as a protective guard for the generals of the Roman Republic. Praetorians were deployed both in camp and in battle and served as a last reserve force against attacks on commanders during campaigns. In the Roman Empire, this carefully selected elite unit served as the Emperor's personal bodyguard. Its members were the only armed soldiers allowed within the walls of Rome and enjoyed higher salaries and shorter terms of service than ordinary legionaries. Eventually, the Praetorian Guard was disbanded by Emperor Constantine the Great in the 4th century AD.

The mobile and completely portable Roman leg guards offered here are made of approx. 1 mm thick brass and blackened on the inside. The shin and knee humps are connected to each other by hinges and thus offer the necessary freedom of movement. The greaves are lined with three brass eyelets on each side and are fastened with 3 mm thick square leather straps, with which the desired size can be precisely adjusted. The straps are included.

This beautiful Roman hosiery is decorated with an elaborate relief: while on one rail a guardsman and snakes are decorated, on the other rail Hercules can be seen, also framed by snakes. Both knee-belts show the Roman eagle.

An ideal accessory for Roman reenactment, LARP or stage that will make your transformation into a proud warrior look even more authentic.
